Our train t-shirt is inspired by the American diesel locomotive and is a kids t-shirt that I knew my son would love. There are entire websites dedicated to train shirts but I was never able to quite find the right one. The vision for this t-shirt came from watching the trains at our usual spot and a norfolk southern diesel engine blasted by us at quite a high speed. The ground was shaking and there was a wall of air that hit us just as the train went by. We also noticed that there was fine cloud of dust in the air as it passed by us. It was quite amazing and I wish I could bottle that moment somehow. This boys train shirt is all about the diesel train and the raw size and power of this amazing vehicle. I have found that toddler boys (even baby boys!) first find Thomas the Tank Engine and then start to go for the more realistic trains "trains without faces" after that.

More Information...

diesel train t-shirt packaging Our train shirts all feature very soft material so they are comfortable right out of the box. Even the kids (like ours) that fuss about shirts being itchy or somehow not comfy will be amazed! We are talking about 100% American ring spun cotton that is made right here in the USA by American Apparel.

Our boys train shirts are printed in the USA using direct to garment (DTG) printing technology. With DTG the printed image is soft and very bright so it looks great. This is all accomplished with eco friendly water based inks.

All orders are shipped via the USPS and include our custom truck box so you will not miss it when it arrives in your mailbox. The t-shirt(s) are folded neatly inside with packing slip (up to 4 tees per box). We use no plastic bags for safety and environmental reasons. Shirts That Go! t-shirts make really nice gifts and the packaging delights the kids and grownups alike.

A Diesel locomotive is a type of railroad locomotive in which the prime mover is a Diesel engine. Several types have been developed, the principal distinction being in the means by which the prime mover's mechanical power is conveyed to the driving wheels (drivers).

Early internal combustion engine-powered locomotives used gasoline as their fuel. Soon after Dr. Rudolf Diesel patented his first compression ignition engine in 1892[1], its application for railway propulsion was considered. Progress was slow, however, because of the poor power-to-weight ratio of the early engines, as well as the difficulty inherent in mechanically applying power to multiple driving wheels on swiveling trucks (bogies).

Steady improvements in the Diesel engine's design (many developed by Sulzer Ltd. of Switzerland, with whom Dr. Diesel was associated for a time) gradually reduced its physical size and improved its power-to-weight ratio to a point where one could be mounted in a locomotive. Once the concept of Diesel-electric drive was accepted the pace of development quickened. By the mid 20th century the Diesel locomotive had become the dominant type of locomotive in much of the world, offering greater flexibility and performance than the steam locomotive, as well as substantially lower operating and maintenance costs. Currently, almost all Diesel locomotives are Diesel-electric.

We let our son pick which shirt he wanted and he was excited when the special box came. The shirt has held up through several washings, We had no issues getting spaghetti out of it. A definite must for all train lovers.
